"Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake."
King James Version
What does Psalm 31:16 mean? βPassage Context
14But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.
15My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
16Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.
17Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
18Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
Devotional Reflection
GratitudeHope
Can your faith hold up when things are hard? I hope so for mine! This Psalm was written when things were hard. But no matter how hard things are, the Psalmist still knows who God is and what He can do when He wants to. Even when he is in trouble, he doesn't forget that the LORD's blessing is there.
Prayer
Father, let me know that You're there. I'm sure You're there; all I need to do is feel Your presence and be set free by You. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
