Devotional Reflection
Out of this psalm, which begins in anguish, we find a crescendo of trust. While circumstances may appear grim, God will not leave His children. Those who honor God will not be forgotten. Far from disregarding His children, God has stored up His kindness, which He will freely pour out on them to indicate that they are His. Those who seek shelter in Him will be protected and blessed. For those on this side of Jesus' resurrection, this promise of blessing and vindication takes on greater depth and meaning, as well as deeper certainty.
Prayer
I praise you, LORD, God of Abraham, Moses, Ruth, David, and Esther, because you have always been true. I'm grateful for my great faith heritage, which shows me that I can trust you to remember me with your grace, protect me with your power, and bless me with your goodness. Please give me the strength to stay true to my faith no matter how hard things get or what I'm tempted to do. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
