Devotional Reflection
What do we want to give us a sense of safety? Will it be about what we can do, make, get, earn, and keep? Or will it be our God, who has always been there for us through many generations? We get to choose! So, what decision will you make? What will give you peace of mind?
Prayer
You are the Father of Israel, God of all the nations, and my Abba Father, the God who is all-powerful. I have faith in You. I know that my money, possessions, accomplishments, and skills do not belong to me. You have given me these things, and I will use them to honor You and spread Your grace. Please keep my heart clean so I can think only of You. Please help me rid myself of pride and selfishness. Please grant me all of Your blessings so that I can bring You more glory and show those I love Your kindness. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
What is your most valuable capital: money or character? I can tell you that this issue will be posed to you in a variety of ways, frequently at the worst possible time when you are most vulnerable. Martin Luther is reputed to have declared that the last thing to convert a man was his pocketbook. So, will you take the little of the virtuous above the wealth of many wicked? Hmm! In a pinch, this is a difficult question. So let's make that decision now, before things change. Isn't it true that God, His Kingdom, His will, and His righteousness come first?
Prayer
Almighty God, creator and owner of all, please grant me a love for justice and a disgust for greed and covetousness. I want to serve You with an undivided heart that cannot be persuaded by the pecuniary worth of a decision. Please help me make my selections based on what is pleasing to Your will. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
