Passage Context

6Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
9I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
10I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

Devotional Reflection

HopeFear

Too many of us are scared of the word "law," which makes it hard to hear a verse like this. But we must realize that the goal of the New Covenant of grace and the gift of the Spirit is for God's law to be written on our hearts and shown in our lives. God doesn't care if it's written on tablets of stone or not. Jeremiah said there would come a time when God's people would only care about doing God's will. They would have a burning desire to love the things our Father loves and hate the things He hates.

Prayer

Father, I do want to do what You want. Give me spiritual discernment to know Your will and spiritual courage to do it today because I want to please You, glorify You, and lead others to You. When I am tempted by Satan to stop living for You, I want Your character and righteousness to guide my heart. Gently remind me when I'm wrong or off course. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

Abba, I do want to do what You want, Father. I want to make You happy, give You praise, and bring others to You. Give me the spiritual ability to know what You want me to do and the spiritual courage to do it today.
