What does Psalm 79:9 mean? βPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
God must occasionally feel appalled by our actions and our failure to seek Him out. There are undoubtedly times when He blesses us simply because we are His people and bear His name. But while we cry out, repenting of our transgressions and failings, He is still our Savior. God is still able to show mercy and uphold the honor of His name even though we fall short of what we ought to be.
Prayer
Holy and righteous God, our Savior and Abba Father, please pardon us for our sins, disobedience, failures, and deceit. Deliver us from the mediocrity that penetrates our dedication to You as well as the effects of our sin. Set us on fire with Your holy zeal to find Your glory and the glory of Your name. You alone, O God, are our Savior! In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
We don't deserve the help we need! God's kindness is not something we should take for granted. We do need God to help us! But through Jesus, God has shown us how much He loves and cares for us. We can boldly cry out for His compassion and receive His grace, forgiveness, and rescue, not because we deserve it but because of who He is.
Prayer
My holy and wonderful God, I need your forgiveness. I need your help to get out of the trap that the tempter has set for me. Without your strength and kindness, I am sure to fail. May people thank you for being kind to me. May the way you are kind to me make other people respect you. May the glory of your name come upon you because you saved me from the tempter's trap. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
