¹And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

²And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

³And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

⁴And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

⁵And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Devotional Reflection

I don't know about you, but I'm ready for that old order stuff to go away. I'd like to see the end of tears, death, grief, crying, and pain. So it's not surprising that the first Christians said, "Maranatha. Jesus, please come!" They were impatient.

Prayer

Help me, holy God, as I continue to try to serve you faithfully. Until the glorious day that so many of your children have yearned for throughout the ages, it is my desire to remain steadfast in my love and live for you. I yearn to be in your presence, to see you in all your radiance, and to join the saints of all ages who are praising you around your majestic throne. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

I don't know about you, but I'm eager for the old order to vanish. To me, the end of tears, death, grief, mourning, and agony seems quite appealing! It's no surprise that the early Christians would remark, "Maranatha. Lord Jesus, come!" They couldn't wait any longer.

Prayer

Holy God, please help me keep serving you in a good way. I want to be constant in my love for you and live for you until the day of glory that so many of your children have been waiting for for hundreds of years. I want to praise you with the saints of all time around your glorious throne. I want to see you in all your glory and be in your presence. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
