What does Romans 5:3 mean? βPassage Context
Devotional Reflection
I remember the old saying, "Thank God for the fleas," by Corrie ten Boom. The fleas kept the German soldiers from going into the barracks where she was being held in the concentration camp. This allowed her to help people who were being persecuted and visit them. She could show and talk about Jesus there. Even in the worst pain, God can bless those who know that the goal of life is not comfort but character.
Prayer
Mighty God, I confess that when I face difficulty, pain, or suffering, I become impatient and frustrated. Please help me to have more empathy and a better listening ear so that I can help those who are in need of Your grace and love. Give me the courage to rejoice in the challenges of overcoming the obstacles Satan puts in the way to keep people away from Jesus. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
What do you want your life to lead to? Wealth, fame, status, meaning, or a lasting legacy? What about morals? Shouldn't our main goal in life be to be like God? So, even when things are bad, if we have good character, nothing can take away our most important goal, which is the character of God that Jesus Christ gives us.
Prayer
Dear Father, please bless me so I can be strong when things are hard and always have a good heart. Please give me a brave and caring heart so that I can show others, even in a small way, what You are like and what You can do in their lives. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

Mighty God, I acknowledge that I grow impatient and annoyed with difficulties, discomfort, and suffering.
