Devotional Reflection
This lengthy verse contains a very basic message at its heart: God wants us to utilize our bodies in ways that glorify Him. Because of our sin, we were dead, but God brought us back to life by allowing us to share in Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. Is it possible for us to return to the dreadful sins that dominated us and caused us to die again? We should not do so! It is not acceptable! We will not be able to do so without God's assistance. The power of the Holy Spirit, combined with our determination to live for His glory, will enable us to live for Him.
Prayer
Father, God of grace, please forgive me for flirting with sin in the past. I know how much You sacrificed to buy me back from sin. I know that Satan can use sin to catch me and make me his slave. Bless me as I decide to live for You, with Jesus as my Lord and the Spirit helping me to do what is right in Your eyes. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
