Devotional Reflection
We don't just receive power from the Holy Spirit now. He is our assurance that we will see God face-to-face (1 John 3:1-2) and share in His glory (2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5; Colossians 3:1-4). He lives in us and gives us the promise of a life that will never end.
Prayer
O God and Father of all nations and races, thank you for your promise that you will work in my life through the Holy Spirit and raise me up by the power of your Spirit so that I can be with you in your presence. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
If we are Christians, we know that God's Spirit lives in us (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We know we will live forever because the Spirit is with us. God's down payment on our future with Him is the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 1:21-22; 2 Corinthians 5:5). Also, even as we live for Christ now, the Spirit keeps our bodies alive as we use them for God's glory (Romans 12:1).
Prayer
Father, give your Spirit life to my body so that what I do not only brings you glory but also shows off your character and grace. All the glory goes to you, O Father, because your presence and power are at work in me, your child. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
Romans 8 tells us over and over again how great it is that God's children have the Holy Spirit living in them. We know we will be raised from the dead because we have the Spirit in us. We can be sure of our resurrection because the same Spirit that gave Jesus life and brought Him back from the dead is in us. We are not going to die. The power of the Holy Spirit to give life is stronger than death. We'll make it! Even though our bodies will die, the Spirit of God keeps us alive, gives us hope, and gives us the power to win.
Prayer
Holy Father, thank you very much for the gift of the Holy Spirit. To know that the power of the same Spirit who helped create the cosmos and who resurrected Jesus from the grave still resides in me takes my breath away with astonishment and awe. You have decided to dwell inside me, to bless me, mold me, develop me, and conform me to the image of Jesus. Thank you. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
