MATTHEW 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
When I was a child, my family had a plaque on the wall that read: " One life will soon pass away. What is done for Christ will ever last."
1 CORINTHIANS 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
A car I buy for myself won't last more than a few years. After then, it will corrode, wear out, and damage.
However, if I give someone a vehicle that will help them reach more people with the Gospel, the blessing and memory of that gift will endure forever.
This is not to imply that treating ourselves with good things is wrong. However, we shouldn't limit our attention only to ourselves and our needs. Selfishness and self-centeredness actually deprive you of blessings, both now and forever.
GALATIANS 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
We have the option to either live for today or for all of time each day.
The intelligent person will invest time and money in eternity.
SAY THIS: I'm going to focus on things that will last eternally.
