ACTS 23:5 Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.
The use of language by members of the Body of Christ to curse leaders is a serious issue that is sometimes overlooked.
Stay away from the devil's trap. Jesus Christ has given Christians power over the planet. Speaking negatively about individuals is an abuse of the power that was given to us to bless, not curse.
ROMANS 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
The world makes an effort to draw our attention to the flaws, vulnerabilities, and failures of our leaders. All leaders, it must be said, are mortal. It is unrealistic to expect any of them to be faultless. This is why it's crucial that we pray for them and refrain from making fun of them or disparaging them in any way.
1 TIMOTHY 2:1-2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
Consider this: You cannot talk negatively about a leader while also praying for them in faith. Such unfavorable language would defeat your prayer.
Certainly not perfect were the authorities at the time the New Testament was composed. However, the New Testament never promotes disdain for those in authority.
ROMANS 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
We can discuss concerns without passing judgment on anyone. We may not agree with a leader's policies, but that does not give us the right to criticize him or her personally. Should we rebuke someone for whom Jesus died?
Our responsibility is to provide individuals with a route of release through the love of Jesus, not to judge them.
You are under no obligation to compliment a leader while lying. Voting for them is not required. You can simply remain silent.
SAY THIS: I won't disparage others, especially those in leadership positions.
