Concentrate on God

Published: January 14, 2024 · Reviewed: April 3, 2024

2 CORINTHIANS 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Many people have the belief that they are either too bad for God to be of any assistance or that their issues are too huge for God to handle. They appear to have less faith in God and more faith in the issue. This occurs when we concentrate on the issue rather than turning to God, who is the answer. As long as we focus on the issues and let it distract our attention, we will have belief in it to fail us.

1 JOHN 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

What we choose to pay attention to is up to us.

An example of how we should look to Jesus and His completed work on the cross rather than our issues may be found in the Old Testament.

NUMBERS 21:9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

It would be very impossible to gaze up and concentrate on a pole when dangerous snakes are all around you, biting people on every side. Instead, you would have to stare down at the ground where the snakes lay. But the Israelites were told to do that specifically by God, and everyone who did so was both healed and survived.

According to the Bible, He was created to be sin for us even though He knew no wrongdoing. And the devil, that ancient serpent, was slain and defanged on the cross!

Therefore, God's solution for you is to look up and concentrate on God's supply, regardless of how urgent the issue that is chewing at your heels may seem. Believe in God!

Whatever issue you are dealing with, God is greater than it and is able to save you from it.

JOHN 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

Consider how wonderful God is rather than how horrible you are. Your badness cannot possibly outweigh His goodness. Bear in mind that He is your Father and that He loves you.

The devil makes an effort to encourage us to place our attention on ourselves and our flaws rather than on Jesus and His capacity to get us through to triumph.

You are not concerned on God as long as you are concerned on yourself. You must make a decision.

SAY THIS: I will draw my attention towards God but not on myself and my issues.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You today, acknowledging that You are greater than all our problems. We pray for the strength to shift our focus from our issues to Your eternal love and power. Help us to remember that You are our Father, and Your goodness outweighs our shortcomings. May we not be distracted by the world, but keep our eyes fixed on You, knowing that You have overcome the world. We declare today that we will focus on You and not on our problems. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
