What do you do when under difficulty?

Published: January 16, 2024 · Reviewed: April 8, 2024

JAMES 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

The Greek word for trouble in this phrase implies to experience difficulty, be tormented, or put up with suffering or bad.

The best course of action for everyone in difficulties is to pray. Pour out your heart to God and talk to Him about the problem; you don't need to know how.

Although we are tempted to do many other things, such as cry, gripe, and pass judgment on others, Scripture instructs us to turn to prayer in times of difficulty.

Take note that it does not state that you should request prayer from everyone. It advises you to pray.

It is not inappropriate to have other people pray for you. However, there is something wrong with expecting others to pray while you never do.

We do not mean to beg God for assistance when we pray. God cares about you and wants to help you at all times.

It is not necessary to try to coerce God into providing assistance. Most of the time, the solution is God getting us to remain still long enough for Him to speak to our hearts and reveal what has to be done.

We occasionally missed it, which is why we are in difficulty. The fact that we live in a fallen world might also give us problems at times. But we must always seek God's guidance for what to do when we are in danger.

Talk to the Lord about your circumstances. Detail your plan. You'll often know what to do just by being honest with God about the circumstance.

Pour out your soul to the Lord, but also wait with gratitude and adoration in His presence. Let your thoughts and heart to calm down. Let God's peace tame your anxiety and agitation.

According to God, if we approach Him, He will approach us. You should pray since you need God's assistance for this. He can get you out of your situation because he is wise and knowledgeable.

The first time you decide to pray and seek God, guidance might not come immediately. While praying, you might not seem to receive an answer.

But take heart—God is at work, and the solution is on the way. So continue to pray. Continue to get closer to God. Aid will arrive.

JOHN 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

SAY THIS: I will pray and follow God when I am in need, and He will assist me.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, in accordance with James 5:13, I come before You in prayer. In times of affliction, I seek Your guidance and comfort. I pour out my heart to You, detailing my struggles and seeking Your wisdom. I trust in Your promise that as I draw near to You, You will draw near to me. Even when answers seem distant, I will continue to pray, knowing You are at work. I take heart in John 16:33, knowing that in You, I find peace. I am of good cheer, for You have overcome the world. Amen.
