As God Has Forgiven You, Forgive Others

COLOSSIANS 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

One of the most difficult things a person can do seems to be to forgive another person for a severe harm. In actuality, very few people can successfully forgive.

However, God tells us to forgive throughout the Bible. Is God too demanding, or what?

God is wise. He therefore demands that we forgive. God is aware of the terrible harm that comes from holding grudges.

The poison of unforgiveness erodes at your life and health on all levels: spiritual, mental, and physical.

Knowing that, God seriously commands us to forgive. How can we then?

We are only human, therefore when someone offends us seriously, we don't really like forgiving them.

The solution is to ask God for assistance so that you can forgive. To begin with, you must confess Jesus Christ as Lord and experience a spiritual "re-birth". By doing so, you give yourself a new inner life and a new nature—one that is based on love rather than selfishness.

The next step after being wronged is to seek the Lord to assist you in forgiving the offender. After doing that, you must decide firmly to stop harboring any hatred toward that person.

After requesting God's assistance, you must forgive by faith.

How can we forgive others as God has forgiven us as humans?

God's assistance is required. We are only made capable by His love in our hearts.

No matter what they've done, you must forgive them. You suffer from not forgiving. You have to forgive.

SAY THIS: As God has forgiven me, I will forgive others with His help.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, In accordance with Colossians 3:13, I seek Your divine assistance to forgive as You have forgiven me. I acknowledge the difficulty of this task, yet I trust in Your wisdom and love. Help me to let go of grudges, to heal from the poison of unforgiveness. I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord, and ask for a spiritual rebirth, to replace selfishness with love. Guide me to forgive by faith, to release any hatred, and to embrace Your love in my heart. As You have forgiven me, I will forgive others with Your help. Amen.
