About Divorce

Published: January 31, 2024 · Reviewed: February 24, 2024

MALACHI 2:16 For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

Due to His love for humanity, God despises divorce.

God is hateful to divorce because it hurts individuals. However, God does not oppose those who get divorced.

Many people reading this have gone through divorce, and they all agree that it is never enjoyable for anyone. It is terrible and causes stress on par with the death of a spouse or child.

Generally divorce does not resolve problems but rather make them worse. Almost certainly, whatever is creating friction and trouble will still be existent after a divorce.

If you are considering a divorce, stay away from it.

(Of course, you should defend yourself if you live a dangerous life.)

Anything can be confronted and overcome with the love and faith of God. God may bring your marriage back to life and reactivate your love for each other just as He raises the dead.

God is not angry with you if you have been divorced. He still cares for you. Remember that God opposes divorce because He loves you and wants to free you from the suffering and pain.

Divorce is forgivable. And keep in mind that God forgets when He forgives. Even though you could still be struggling in the disorders of your divorce, God is concerned and can forgive and forget it.

SAY THIS:

Because God loves people, including me, He dislikes divorce.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we acknowledge Your divine wisdom in Malachi 2:16. We understand Your disdain for divorce, not out of anger, but out of Your boundless love for us. We pray for those considering divorce, may they find Your guidance and peace. For those who have experienced divorce, remind them of Your forgiveness and love. Help us all to remember that You are a God of restoration, capable of reviving love and mending broken hearts. We thank You for Your grace and mercy, and for Your unfailing love. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
