God Is A Forgiveness God

Published: February 21, 2024 Β· Reviewed: April 27, 2024

EPHESIANS 2:4

The devil spreads the myth that God is angry with people and eager to blame them, but the Bible declares that God is merciful and rich in forgiveness.

Mercy is the absence of what we deserve.

Rich refers to a plentiful quantity that is more than enough.

The Lord's "mercy endures forever," the Bible declares 41 times. This assertion is made in every verse of Psalm 136.

PSALM 136:1

People may appear to us as undeserving of another chance. They might look hopeless to us since they may have repeatedly blown it.

But God has a unique perspective on people. He shows mercy because he sees them with the eyes of love and recognizes their potential.

Yes, God detests sin. But it's because He cares about us and is aware of how damaging sin is.

SAY THIS: I had no idea how merciful God was. God is abundantly merciful.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, We thank You for Your enduring mercy and abundant forgiveness. We acknowledge that we are undeserving, yet You see us through eyes of love. Help us to understand Your mercy, to accept Your forgiveness, and to strive to live in Your grace. Teach us to detest sin as You do, not out of fear, but out of love for You and understanding of its harm. May we always remember Your mercy endures forever. Amen.
