A Connection To God

Published: February 28, 2024 Β· Reviewed: May 18, 2024

HOSEA 2:19-20 And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the Lord.

God occasionally uses marriage, the most intimate bond between two human adults, to represent His connection with His people.

The Lord is attempting to explain to us His feelings by way of this illustration: His intense love for His people and the suffering brought on by their disloyalty and lack of love for Him.

EPHESIANS 5:31-32 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

God is a living being, just like you are. God is an individual. More than you, he does not appreciate being disregarded, mistreated, or insulted. For our benefit, God always follows His Word and is not influenced by His emotions.

God does not intend to compel us to carry out His will. He wants us to voluntarily want to do His will. God doesn't enjoy making us obey His commands or love Him.

God has already taken the initiative and is now waiting for our response. He put his love for us first and showed it at Calvary.

Naturally, the devil, the father of lies, makes every effort to convince us that God isn't deserving of our love. Such a falsehood!

SAY THIS: I will not let God down because He wants a deep relationship with me.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, We thank You for Your unending love and faithfulness. We acknowledge Your desire for a deep, intimate relationship with us, symbolized through the sacred bond of marriage. Forgive us for our disloyalty and lack of love. Help us to understand Your feelings, to appreciate Your righteousness, and to not disregard or mistreat You. Guide us to willingly do Your will, not out of compulsion, but out of love. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that seek to distort Your truth. We declare our commitment to You, knowing You first loved us at Calvary. Amen.
