Careful With Pride

Published: March 12, 2024 · Reviewed: March 27, 2024

PROVERBS 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride may be fatal. But instead of forewarning us, the world actively promotes arrogance.

So, what is pride? Pride is having more faith in oneself than in God.

Selfishness, or putting oneself first, is the source of pride. believing that you are the most significant. that you are the most knowledgeable. believing that you deserve better than other people.

Your pride will lead you to choose your own path over God's. You assume you don't need God's guidance or assistance because of pride.

Instead of going to God, pride makes you turn away from Him. The source of all disobedience is pride. All revolt is motivated by pride. Putting oneself and one's feelings above the other and one's feelings is the root of all abuse of others.

The proud may receive some attention from the world for a little period of time, but their success will pass quickly.

JAMES 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

The most terrible and subtly evil sin is pride. It frequently goes unnoticed.

Beware!

SAY THIS: Lord, assist me to beware of pride.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, We acknowledge that pride is a sin that leads us away from You. We confess our arrogance and ask for Your forgiveness. Help us to place our faith in You, not in ourselves. Teach us humility, Lord, and guide us on Your path. We reject the world's promotion of pride and choose to seek Your grace. Help us to resist the temptation of pride, to put others before ourselves, and to always turn to You. We ask for Your assistance in being aware of our pride. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
