God Never Defends Himself

Published: March 13, 2024 Β· Reviewed: March 31, 2024

God is odd in that He never seems to stand up for Himself! We must comprehend this as we engage in the daily spiritual war.

Humans typically assume innocence when an accuser remains silent. But when God is implicated, this is incorrect.

Jesus didn't take part in any debates.

MARK 15:3-5 And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing. And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? Behold how many things they witness against thee. But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

Even though the Gospel of John claims that Jesus conversed briefly with Pilate, He made no attempt to defend Himself.

Who, in your opinion, accuses God of being evil? Who is it that you think those things?

REVELATION 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

According to the Bible, the accuser is devil. Both before God and to ourselves, the devil accuses us. Like God, we must develop the ability to disregard what the devil says.

The devil can be resisted by choosing to ignore what he says. By not embracing or uttering what is against God's Word, we put it down.

It is generally safe to conclude that devil is either the source of or a supporter of all ideas that cast God in a negative light. You can understand why God would not lower Himself to defend Himself against these accusations because devil is the one making them.

God is defended by the loving deeds he has performed throughout history, such as giving his life on the cross for us. For an honest, inquisitive person who is willing to hear the truth, he doesn't need any other defense.

For evil and negative occurrences, we shouldn't hold God responsible. God is innocent!

JOB 40:2,8 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? He that reproveth God, let him answer it. Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

A lot of unfavorable things were stated about God and His justice throughout the entire book of Job. However, when God intervened, He made no comment in response to any of the charges. The only things God really said were, "Who are you?" and "What do you know?"

Instead of replying to the criticism, God shifted the conversation to the legitimacy of human judgment of God.

In answer, Job expressed regret and acknowledged his ignorance of the subject at hand.

If we're being completely honest, we'll have to accept that there's a lot we don't know and that makes us unfit to judge God right now. We shouldn't judge God just because we don't comprehend everything that occurs.

Our faith is occasionally put to the test because God does not explain Himself and because we do not have complete knowledge. Our minds start to have doubts.

But we must never question God's goodness and justice. Even while we may not comprehend, this does not establish God's culpability.

God has previously made known in the Bible the real cause of all the horrible things that occur. The Bible is where we must turn for guidance.

God might one day justify His actions and give an explanation. But that will happen when we have the capacity to completely understand. God will share with His children because He likes to do so rather than because He needs to justify Himself.

SAY THIS: God is not in need of defending Himself. He is wonderful

Prayer

Heavenly Father, We acknowledge Your divine wisdom and justice, even when we do not fully understand. We resist the devil's accusations and hold steadfast in our faith in You. We thank You for Your loving deeds, especially the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We trust in Your Word as our guide and look forward to the day when all will be revealed. We proclaim that You are wonderful and do not need to defend Yourself. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
