God Endows You With The Ability To Be Rich

Published: March 14, 2024 · Reviewed: April 2, 2024

DEUTERONOMY 8:18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

I don't mean to seem judgmental, but a lot of preachers use this scripture to argue that God wants people to thrive so they can give Him the money He needs to spread the gospel throughout the entire world.

I firmly believe that God wants His people to be generous. And it is obvious that we should share the Gospel Message with everyone. And giving something out to someone who will love it will typically provide you the most pleasure.

God, however, is undoubtedly not waiting for us to earn enough money to support Him. God cannot possibly be worse than a typical set of human parents.

Selfishness is wrong, as I've already stated. You are not in God's will if you don't donate. However, God doesn't give you goods just so you can give them all to someone else.

The straightforward statement in Deuteronomy 8:18 is that God is the one making you wealthy, and He is doing it because He promised to — not because we deserve it!

I particularly enjoy:

1 TIMOTHY 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

God is not the kind of being that will force you to eke by; instead, He provides us with RICH goods in EVERY ASPECT for our ENJOYMENT. God provides for us because He likes to and because He honors His promises.

SAY THIS: I have faith in the living God, who abundantly provides for all my needs. He grants me the ability to flourish because He promised to.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, We thank You for Your abundant blessings and the power You give us to prosper. We acknowledge that all we have comes from You. Help us to remember Your covenant and to use our wealth wisely, not for selfish gain, but for the spread of Your Gospel. Teach us to trust not in uncertain riches, but in You, our living God, who richly provides for our needs. May we always find joy in Your provisions and honor Your promises. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
