PROVERBS 3:9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
Giving money is one method to show honor; it is not the only method.
Honor is a term that meaning to value. Honoring a person is a method to let them know they are important to you and other people.
Giving money is associated with honor in the Bible. God, your parents, those who promote or instruct the Word of God, and widows are specifically mentioned.
MATTHEW 15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
1 TIMOTHY 5:17-18 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 18 For the scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
Verse 18 clarifies that financial support is the "double honor" mentioned in verse 17 for those whose job is illuminating God's Word for us.
1 TIMOTHY 5:3-4 Honour widows that are widows indeed. 4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
ROMANS 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
SAY THIS: I will give honor to those who deserve it.
