JAMES 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Some people believe that while God was a mean bully and a bad guy in the Old Testament, he has turned into a nice guy in the New Testament.
MALACHI 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
HEBREWS 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
"So why do some passages in the Old Testament seem to attribute evil to God?"
There is no simple or quick answer to this question. There are numerous causes, and in this essay we can only learn a few of them roughly. Here are some key points.
The Bible is continuous prophecy. We e now learn more about God and His plans than before.
JOHN 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
God's treatment of individuals differs in the NT (New Testament) from that in the OT (Old Testament). Our agreement has changed. God's top priorities up until the crucification and resurrection of Jesus were to protect the Jewish people and bring Jesus to earth to act as our Substitute. To make that possible, some actions had to be taken to secure God's people.
Now that the new agreement has been established, God can completely show His love. Jesus has already triumphed by rising. Jesus is Almighty, and the war for man is ended.
Another issue is the Bible versions. No one is flawless. Some verses are incorrectly translated as causing something to happen rather than in the correct meaning of allowing something to happen. The reality is that God did not bring about bad occurrences.
Furthermore, the OT does likely NEVER mention the devil or demons. However, they were found anywhere when Jesus started His mission. Did they simply appear then? No! Devil existed during the OT era as well. It's simply that God had not yet manifested everything that was happening. It's possible that God withheld certain information to stop people from following the demon. God therefore stayed silent.
View His existence. Jesus never hurt anybody.
ACTS 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
JOHN 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
COLOSSIANS 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
JOHN 12:45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
2 CORINTHIANS 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
SAY THIS: God has never been a bad guy.
