EPHESIANS 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
We don't know much.
Even the most spiritual person among us has only seen a small portion of God's plan. Paul, the Apostle, claimed he just "knew in portion."
So let's pray, in the words of the Apostle Paul, "that the eyes of our heart may be enlightened", both for others and ourselves.
If study alone were the solution, those who have read the Bible the most would have the greatest faith and be performing the greatest deeds for God. The opposite is usually true.
We must offer the same kind of prayer as the Psalmist.
PSALM 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
You might have wondered why you understand certain aspects of the Bible so precisely while your friends or family appear to be blind to them.
2 CORINTHIANS 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
The solution is that, in some way, God must open or enlighten our hearts and minds. This is a reason and a way to pray for your loved ones who are not Christians.
ACTS 16:14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
SAY THIS: Lord, please open my eyes and grant me wisdom to understand everything you have for me to know.
