JOHN 10:11-13 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. 12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
Jesus is not an employee who might abandon His flock. Jesus' followers should never worry about running out of support or resources.
How can we determine whether a shepherd is decent or not?
The status of the flock is the primary measurement we can use to judge how decent a shepherd is. It is obvious the shepherd is not doing a good job if the flock is not in excellent condition or if they are lacking anything.
Not only "a good shepherd" Jesus is, He is "THE" great shepherd. He embodies all that a good shepherd ought to be. Nobody is superior!
But we must realize that if we escape from Him and refuse to let Him shepherd us. It is not His mistake if we are in poor condition.
We shouldn't hold Jesus accountable for our actions when they don't turn out well.
So, whenever we are faced with a challenge or a need, we should turn to our Shepherd firstly. He is constantly available to us, ready to lend a hand, and even willing to risk His life to do so.
