COLOSSIANS 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Via His written Message, the Bible, God has made many aspects of His will known to us. Yet there are numerous things, like who to marry, what to work, or where to settle, that the Bible does not clearly teach us. However, God has provided for our guidance in such aspects of living as well.
God's peace serves as the arbitrator for choosing our course.
It can be challenging to perceive the "peace of God" (which I also refer to as the "inner observer"). Unpracticed christians sometimes confuse their inner observer with a good or pleasant sensation in their body. However, we learn from our mistakes just like we do from everything else in life.
We're not referring to a "peace" that exists in your physical body, but rather a "inner" peace that resides in your soul. It lasts and becomes more powerful as we devote more time focusing on God and His Scripture, bringing us closer to Him.
In the absence of the inner observer, ideas will typically just occur to you. Thoughts, however, can originate from places other than God. We require a system for determining which ideas originate from God and which do not.
We can identify whether an idea is from God by using two factors. The first is familiarity with God's written Word—the Bible. God will never direct us in a way that goes against what He has said in His recorded Word.
The inner observer is the second criterion.
ROMANS 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
What distinguishes the inner observer?
First, it's crucial to understand that it's typically an observer rather than a speaker. It can be described using terms like feeling, perception, notion, instinct, awareness, or harmony.
The inner observer is another way God affirms the most crucial fact of this life—that we are God's children—along with the Bible.
ROMANS 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
We need to turn to the Lord and spend time in His presence if we want to be receptive to the Lord's guidance. It includes recognizing God in all of our methods, praying, praising, and thanking. It will be simpler for us to recognize the inner testimony of the Spirit and understand God's will for us as we get to know the Lord better through His Word and through walking with Him.
SAY THIS: In accordance with God's Word, and through the inner testimony of His peace, I will follow the Lord's guidance.
