LUKE 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
This is what Jesus said. Someone who is both wiser than we are and more devoted to us than we are to ourselves. Therefore, we must pay attention and observe.
It is simple to get caught up in daily activities and lose sight of what is crucial. That was the situation with Mary's sister Martha in the verses just quoted. While Martha was aware that she must make something to eat, she also understood that she must listen to what Jesus had to tell. What was she to do?
Such issues, which are essentially decisions, affect us all.
CHOOSING OUR PRIORITIES IS US. WE make the decisions about how we will use our time and energy. We should make smart decisions.
(Here's a hint: if it won't be significant in 100 years, it probably isn't important now.)
In this circumstance, Jesus spoke to Martha in a consoling rather than a criticizing manner. (Jesus still prefers to assist individuals over blaming them.) In essence, Jesus advised followers to place hearing what God had to say before worrying, and things would eventually work themselves out with God's support.
The same word is being delivered to you by Jesus today.
Never lose sight of the fact that God can achieve more for you in a minute than you could in a lifetime on your own.
SAY THIS: I'll follow God's Word. Then, with God's support, I will succeed.
