MARK 6:31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
To paraphrase this passage, one preacher said, "Come apart before you come apart."
Because God is our Origin, we should look to God when we rest rather than away from Him. It would be foolish to go on "holiday" from God.
Our minds also require slumber in order to recover from the nonstop stream of negative news and entertainment that the media feeds us.
The ideas God wants to communicate with us must have a place in our minds. We require moments when we block out all other sounds attempting to communicate with us and concentrate on God.
God wishes to speak with you. However, if you are continually surrounded by outside voices, you may lose some of what God is trying to communicate with you.
We can relax through prayer. It's a chance for us to turn back to the Lord, put our attention there, and stop trying to handle everything on our own.
ISAIAH 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Furthermore, the Bible warns against being lazy, so we shouldn't make relaxing our main priority. However, many people are ignoring this portion of God's advice provided for our benefit because of the fast-paced modern life.
Keep in mind that God ordered the children of Israel to take a weekly day of rest. Their Sabbath was a genuine day of rest rather than a day jam-packed with religious obligations.
God's guidance must be followed or it will cost us. Many people today are physically damaged and unnecessarily exhausted. We must learn how to correctly relax so that God can renew and empower us to accomplish our task.
SAY THIS: I'll follow God and relax in Jesus.
