When You Are Praying Forgiveness

Published: May 29, 2024 · Reviewed: August 19, 2024

MARK 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Forgiveness is a decision, not an emotion. When you stand praying, your mood might not change, but you always have the option to forgive.

How much time does forgiveness take? How long can you remain still and pray?

Jesus never mentioned what person deserved mercy. He didn't tell not to forgive unitl they begged for it either.

Jesus advised us to forgive any of our enemies for anything whenever we speak to God. That would include those who might harm you without even being aware that they do so, or those who were intending to harm you still.

Why should you grant them mercy?

Not due to their merit, instead, due to the hurt may impact yourself if not to forgive. Unforgiveness has a poisonous effect to you.

God requires you to forgive others because He has already forgiven you.

Would you forgive somebody who has wronged you for Jesus if He were to come to you right now and ask you in person? Jesus' words should be treated with the same regard as if He were to physically materialize to us.

SAY THIS: I forgive and deliver everybody who has ever harmed me.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, in obedience to Your word in Mark 11:25, I choose to forgive all who have wronged me. I release them from the chains of resentment, not because they deserve it, but because I understand the toxicity of unforgiveness. I do this in recognition of the immense forgiveness You have granted me. As Jesus would ask of me, I forgive and release all who have caused me harm. In Jesus' name, Amen.
