Jesus Is Our Righteousness

Published: June 21, 2024 ยท Reviewed: July 29, 2024

1 CORINTHIANS 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

People now have two options: give up attempting to earn God's favor through their own efforts, or embrace the righteousness offered by accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Or, they could endeavor to do well enough for God to accept them.

There can be just one option.

With the second option, no one can succeed.

These three passages assert that "no one" can accomplish it.

ROMANS 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

GALATIANS 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

GALATIANS 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

Nobody can sin horribly enough to earn God's rejection.

Furthermore, nobody is deserving of God's acceptance.

Therefore, accepting God's gift of Jesus Christ is the only method of gaining favor with Him.

JOHN 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

ROMANS 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

God does want His people to do good deeds, not evil.

Jesus was sent to rescue us FROM sin, not to keep us bound by it.

We cannot, however, rescue ourselves.

Through our own efforts, we cannot get ourselves acceptable to God.

Only via Him, through Jesus Christ, could we approach and receive His free gift.

ROMANS 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Keep in mind that righteousness is a gift!

SAY THIS: I embrace Jesus as my righteousness.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, We acknowledge that our righteousness comes not from our deeds, but through faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ. We confess that we cannot earn Your favor through our own efforts, but only by accepting the gift of Jesus Christ. Help us to understand that righteousness is a gift, not a reward. We embrace Jesus as our righteousness, our wisdom, our sanctification, and our redemption. Guide us to live in Your grace and truth, and to do good deeds not to earn Your favor, but out of love for You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
