TITUS 3:2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
The same motive drives our failure to treat everyone with courtesy: pride. We believe we are superior to them. If not, we would handle them with decency and respect.
Just bear in mind that following a set of rules is not the foundation of true Christianity (such as: show courtesy to all people). Instead, it is a connection to God made possible by union with Jesus Christ. Since He has given us life, we can and ought to behave differently.
We understand the life and love of God are present in our minds after accepting Jesus when our thinking is refreshed to the truth.
So, maintaining courtesy toward everyone will require more than just a choice and determination. For it to happen, God must act in and through you.
TITUS 3:1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
Just before the verse we began with above, this one states to "remind believers" to carry out these actions. It is not an obligation we must fulfill in order to please God or win His affection. Instead, it is what we ought to develop into as we mature in Christ and enable His life and love to flow through us.
TITUS 3:3-7 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
God is transforming us!
Living a Christian existence requires more than just determination and commitment. It is placing your faith in God and submitting to Him.
Although God never pushes us to submit to His will, we must choose to do so because we are powerless to make it happen on our own.
PHILIPPIANS 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
SAY THIS: Lord, help me to treat others as the way you would treat them, and to see them as you see them.
