The Deceit Of Sin

Published: June 28, 2024 · Reviewed: August 18, 2024

HEBREWS 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Sin promises pleasure but falls short of delivering.

Following God's way, according to deception, is too difficult and limiting, and it won't make you happy.

Sin therefore advises you to let go of self-control and live in the present, to act in accordance with your feelings without considering the long term.

The fact that it doesn't function is the only issue.

The assurances of sin are hollow.

People suffer consequences for all evil.

So everyone who sins will ultimately suffer the consequences.

ROMANS 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Whatever joy sin may offer is fleeting and only lasts a brief period of time.

Then it results in mortality!

HEBREWS 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

Great news, thankfully, is here!

To deliver us from sin, Jesus showed up.

MATTHEW 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

The good news is that Jesus will redeem you and set you free, regardless of how tightly evil has bound you.

The adversary you face is sin, not Jesus.

Sin only makes you happy temporarily before wreaking havoc, anguish, and suffering.

Your ally Jesus is the one who came to free you from sin.

Jesus gives you His life and love when you accept Him, preventing you from committing sin.

MATTHEW 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

When people read this passage in Matthew, they frequently assume that not many people will make it to heaven, but Jesus did not say that.

Few people during our time on planet experience life in all its fullness, as God wanted.

They succumb to sin's deception because they permit it.

The path to a happy, beautiful life is challenging.

It can be difficult to avoid being cheated.

However, Jesus will support you!

He is the path!

So pray to Jesus and rely on Him to deliver!

SAY THIS: I won't let evil cheat me

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, We come before You acknowledging the deceitfulness of sin. We pray for strength to resist its fleeting pleasures and for wisdom to discern its hollow promises. We thank You for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord. We rejoice in the freedom He offers us from the bondage of sin. Help us to walk the narrow path, to experience life in its fullness as You intended. We declare that we will not be cheated by sin. We trust in Jesus, our ally and our deliverer. In His holy name, we pray. Amen.
