I Disagree With Other Preachers

Published: July 9, 2024 · Reviewed: September 21, 2024

1 CORINTHIANS 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

There isn't a single individual on the planet with whom I entirely accept all of their beliefs.

That does not prove that I am correct, or that they are wrong. It simply means that since we are all still learning, our mental states do not necessarily align.

Some people are more knowledgeable than I am about a certain topic, while others are less knowledgeable. And you might discover—as I have occasionally—that you were incorrect about something you ever believed you knew about.

I must remain receptive to other people's opinions in order to continue learning. I must give other people my full attention.

It would be stupid for me to spend my time listening to someone on the same topic if I had once accepted what they were telling while the Lord enlightened me. I don't have to denounce or blame them. They could also teach me about other topics, though.

SAY THIS: Everyone continues learning something, and I can continue learning something from everyone.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Guide us in our quest for knowledge and understanding. Help us to remember that we only know in part, and prophesy in part. Teach us to respect the beliefs of others, even when they differ from our own. Remind us that we are all still learning, and that our understanding is not always aligned. Grant us the humility to admit when we are wrong, and the wisdom to learn from our mistakes. Help us to remain open to the teachings of others, and to give them our full attention. Amen.
