Know Your Enemy

Published: July 12, 2024 · Reviewed: September 29, 2024

1 PETER 5:8-9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Your adversary is the demon. It's his powers that are causing you problems. (And your belief is their primary target.)

God is not against you! God supports you. He is with you.

Humans are not out to get you. They occasionally behave as if they are adversaries, but they are not. They are only distant relatives who are deceived and under the devil's sway.

EPHESIANS 6:11-12 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The devil is still free to spread his lies and attempt to trick people, even though Jesus fully conquered him and granted us power over him.

The demon lies and deceives people. He deceives individuals into giving him their money. He comes at you with fears and doubts. We must repress those ideas and refrain from speaking them.

2 CORINTHIANS 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

We may have to battle to stick to our faith in God's Word and resist giving in to fear and doubt because we are engaged in a battle of faith.

We must accept what God says because it is by faith that we receive God's provision. We must resist the devil's attempts to steal from us through uncertainty and disbelief.

SAY THIS: I will not trust the lies of the devil, my enemy.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, In the face of adversity, grant us the strength to remain steadfast in our faith. Protect us from the deceit of the devil, and help us to resist his attempts to sow doubt and fear in our hearts. Remind us that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness. Equip us with Your divine armor, that we may stand firm against the enemy's schemes. May we always trust in Your Word and Your provision, and not be swayed by the lies of the enemy. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
