The Reverse Of Divine Love Is Selfishness

Published: July 14, 2024 Β· Reviewed: October 6, 2024

PHILIPPIANS 2:3-4 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Rather than hatred, the antithesis of heavenly love is selfishness.

Selfishness is the root of every issue facing the globe nowadays. Selfishness is to blame for all of the issues in our economies and politics. Selfishness is to blame for the issues in our homes.

JAMES 3:16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

The solution is that every one of us should want what is ideal toward others, even to the extent of forgoing our own gain in order to see others prosper. This is how heavenly love looks.

All Christian believers are required to have this kind of devotion. However, this commandment is provided for our benefit and not to depress or blame us. We receive the nature and capacity to carry out the command.

JOHN 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

As they have God's existence within them, all who accept Jesus Christ are able to stand in the same kind of divine love that Jesus did. This is why everyone needs to be reborn, in order to be delivered from the constraints of selfishness and set free from the bonds of evil.

ROMANS 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

SAY THIS: I choose to follow God and walk in divine love, which is the contrary of selfishness.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Guide us to live by Your word in Philippians 2:3-4, to esteem others better than ourselves and to look not only on our own things, but also on the things of others. Help us to overcome selfishness, the root of all issues, and to strive for heavenly love. May we follow Your commandment in John 13:34, to love one another as You have loved us. Fill us with Your divine love, freeing us from the bonds of evil. We choose to follow You, Lord, and walk in divine love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
