Continue To Thank God

Published: July 27, 2024 · Reviewed: August 15, 2024

1 THESSALONIANS 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Several things in life may be beyond our comprehension. However, we may make sense of this text and realize that God did not give these instructions because He is so dependent on our continuous gratitude, but rather for our good and benefit.

What should we do when horrible things occur?

When horrible things happen, they appear to be in opposition to faith in God's goodness and care.

But we must keep in mind that we have an enemy—the devil—who wants to steal our pleasure, peace, and faith. The Bible commands us to oppose him by maintaining our faith.

Gratitude is a strong weapon against the devil.

SAY THIS: No matter what occurs, I will continue to give thanks to God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, In the face of trials and tribulations, we choose to give thanks. We acknowledge that our understanding is limited, but Your wisdom is infinite. Help us to remember that our gratitude is not for Your benefit, but for ours. When the enemy seeks to steal our joy, peace, and faith, strengthen us to stand firm in our faith. May our gratitude be a shield against his attacks. We declare that no matter what happens, we will continue to give thanks to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
