2 KINGS 6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
There is more going on than what our physical eyes can see.
Around us, spiritual powers are at work.
Without God's "opening of our eyes," we are unaware of the truth.
Naturally, we shouldn't need to "see" into the spirit world in order to trust what God has told, such as the promise that His angels will watch over us constantly in order to safeguard us.
ACTS 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
The first instruction Paul received from God regarding his vocation was "to open their eyes... that they may receive."
We must also keep "our eyes opened" in order for us to accept everything that God has provided for us.
We must offer the same kind of prayer as the psalmist.
PSALM 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
SAY THIS: Lord, please open my eyes. Grant me awareness and perception.
