Study The Scriptures

Published: August 8, 2024 · Reviewed: September 21, 2024

1 TIMOTHY 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

HEBREWS 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The fundamentals cannot be replaced.

God's spoken words preserved in the Bible serve as containers. They are inspired by God.

They are alive. These words give us life and faith when they access through our eyes, ears, or minds.

JOHN 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Only because they do not read much of God's Word, many Christians lack in their faith.

Fortunately, we can benefit from a wide range of tools today. You can study the Bible online and receive daily reminders via email. To listen to Bible translations while you drive, work, or exercise, you can get recordings of them.

"What should I read, though? It's a very large book."

The entire Bible is valuable and educative. The New Testament, and particularly the letters to the Church, is written specifically to us and is the most relevant for us at the present.

Read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the four Gospels, if you are interested in getting to know the Lord.

John is a good place to start, in my opinion. Mark is the shortest one.

You should read the letters in the New Testament, which are all the books other than the Gospels I just mentioned and the book of Revelation, if you would like to know redemption, what has happened to you as a consequence of accepting Christ, and how to live in victory.

Always keep in mind that the Bible is a source of faith. Therefore, you must feed your faith from the Bible if you want it to be strong.

SAY THIS: I will study the Bible and it will be helpful for me.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, We thank You for Your living Word, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing our souls and spirits. We pray for a hunger to read, understand, and live by Your Word. May we utilize the tools available to us to study Your Word, and may it strengthen our faith. Guide us as we delve into the Gospels and the letters of the New Testament, that we may know You more and live in the victory of Christ. May Your Word be our source of faith, nourishing and strengthening us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
