How Strong is My Faith?

Published: October 22, 2024 · Reviewed: November 5, 2024

The storms of life can come at us all of a sudden.

We are sailing along and then, wham!

We are in the middle of a storm and feel that Jesus is asleep!

What we need is faith.

Now, Jesus is not going to calm all the seas that we encounter, but he is not asleep, he is beside us helping us ride out the storm.

As I sit here this morning, we have been brushed by a hurricane which didn't cause us much inconvenience, let alone damage.

However, parts of the Caribbean were hit by the full force of the storm, and I'm sure that many people there are wondering if God was asleep!

The forces of nature are something that we all deal with regardless of where we live. It can be a hurricane, a tornado, a blizzard, flooding rains or a drought. It doesn't matter what it is if it affects us.

What we can do, is help those who are affected in whatever ways possible for us. We can reach out to neighbors, donate money or clothing to relief efforts and we can certainly pray for those who are suffering from the storm.

In the personal storms of life, we can trust that the Lord is with us, that we are not alone.

Part of our daily prayer can be asking God to be present to those who are suffering that day.

We may not know anyone in trouble, but we can be sure that someone is in need of prayer.

God knows who needs our prayers, and will be sure to answer them.

Prayer

Lord, there are times when our boat is shaking and we think we will drown. Help us to remember your goodness to us in the past and to have faith that you will be present to us now. Help us also to remember to pray for those who are struggling in their boats as well. Amen.
