Pray Always!

Published: October 30, 2024 Β· Reviewed: November 29, 2024

Today let us think of all the ways we pray. Let us take a few moments just to rejoice in the presence of the Lord. Praise him just because he is worthy of praise.

We thank him for life, for all the blessings he has given us. We ask him for the needs of others as well as for our own needs.

It is not selfish to pray for ourselves and our own needs. Jesus wants us to ask him for help, he does not expect us to carry our burdens alone. When we are willing to put ourselves in his hands, it shows our trust in him.

When we don't know how to pray, ask for guidance. We ask for forgiveness for the times when we have not been the people he created us to be. Even when we don't think we have sinned, we might have been less or done less than we could have done.

When our hearts hold onto hurts, we can release them and ask for help in forgiving.

Prayer sometimes involves formal prayer such as the Our Father, the Lord's Prayer. Prayer can involve reading the Bible or studying it.

When we offer our day to God in the morning, then everything we do in the course of our day whether it is working in an office or washing the dishes becomes a prayer. Singing a favorite hymn is a wonderful way of praying. Some people put a prayer CD, or a CD that reads us Scripture passages into their CD player in the car or while they do housework.

When we turn to God often during our days, we have less anxiety as well as that peace in our hearts that surpasses all understanding.

Prayer

Loving God, all we need to do to have peace in our lives is to keep you close to us. We can choose to spend our days with you, our best friend as well as our Savior. Help us to put anxiety aside by spending more time with you. Amen.
