May All My Actions Praise You!

Published: December 4, 2024 · Reviewed: December 14, 2024

This psalm is very short! However, it is powerful.

God is to be praised everywhere by everyone.

How is this going to happen if people don't know how good God is? This is our task.

We read in Matthew's Gospel that we are commissioned to make disciples of all nations! This is what God is calling us to do, so how are we doing?

As we've discussed before, we are not all called to be missionaries in foreign lands, but we are called to witness to the Good News wherever we are.

For some of us, the call may be to action, to speaking of the saving actions of Jesus and inviting those who have turned away to come back. For most of us, the call is to be a witness by the very way we live our faith every day.

The question for all of us is, "Are we willing to witness our faith so that others are attracted to the message of love that Christianity should be?"

How do our actions promote justice in our community?

We sometimes forget that another way of being a disciple is to pray. We are called to praise God and we are also called to pray for the needs of the world. Even though we don't go into the field, we need to pray for those who do.

One of the things that will help is to reexamine our hearts and remember why we believe and how believing has changed our lives.

So, let us examine the way we live and ask ourselves if others would be drawn to Christ by our actions, or turned off because we do not represent the love, compassion and forgiveness of God.

Prayer

Loving God, we praise you for your goodness; we praise you for the love you have for us. You want all people in the world to know you as we do. May our ears be open to your voice and our hearts be willing to follow your call! Amen.
