Another one of my favorite psalms! Don't you just love the image of walking along the stream of water looking at the trees and smelling their fruit. When I believe that I am walking on the straight path knowing God is with me, this is how I feel – blessed.
True, I don't always meditate on God's law day and night, but I do try to work for those who need help and I do pray for anyone that asks for my prayers, and those who I know are suffering or are trying to make the right decision.
I follow the news and do my best to pray for people when there is a disaster anywhere in the world; after all, we are all God's children and we are responsible for the wellbeing of everyone.
This is the point of Jesus' law of love. It's important to work within our community but it is also important to do what we can for others whom we may never know.
The best thing about walking in the counsel of the Lord and not the wicked is happiness. In fact, in some translations "blessed" is translated as "happy."
When you can trust the Lord to take care of you, you can relax and be at peace. You know that he's not trying to put something over on you, or cheat you out of anything. Even when life is difficult, you know you're not alone.
The wicked always have an agenda. Even when they are doing good things, it's not because it's the right thing to do, it's because they want people to see them and believe that they are good.
Those who walk with the Lord, do the right thing because it is the right thing. It doesn't matter if anyone watches or not because the only one who needs to know is the Lord, and he's walking with you.
I know that I want to be happy, and I'm sure that you do as well. Let's walk together with the Lord.
