A College Student's Struggle with Church Disappointment

I was once so excited about being part of my campus ministry, but after experiencing a lack of support and feeling overlooked during a difficult time, my enthusiasm has turned to disappointment. I've witnessed behavior among the leadership that felt hypocritical, and it has left me feeling disillusioned. I find it hard to engage in worship or trust the community. I need prayer for clarity on whether to stay connected to this group or find another place to grow spiritually.

Pastor's Response

Pastor Robert Kim

Missions Pastor, First Baptist Church

Dear David, thank you for sharing your heart with us. It’s understandable to feel disappointed when things don’t align with our expectations, especially within our spiritual communities. I encourage you to take your concerns to the Lord. Remember what Romans 8:39 assures us: 'For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.' No matter how hurt we feel, His love for you remains constant. Seeking Him in prayer, as James 1:5 reminds us, gives us wisdom in making decisions. 'If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.' Take time to pray about your next steps, and don't hesitate to reach out for guidance during this time. Let's lift this matter to God: Heavenly Father, guide David in his search for a supportive and nurturing community that aligns with Your will. In Christ’s name, Amen.
