A Couple's Struggle with Job Loss and Identity
I’m Rachel, and I’m reaching out for prayers for my marriage. After my husband lost his job, I’ve noticed a shift in him—he’s become withdrawn and frustrated, and it’s affecting our relationship. I can’t help but feel the tension rise between us and wonder if we’re drifting apart. I want to support him, but he refuses to talk about how he's feeling. I feel helpless in this situation. I ask for prayer that he finds peace and can express his struggles, and that we can reconnect as a loving couple. We need healing and understanding in this trying time.

Dear Rachel, thank you for sharing your heart with us. It is clear that you deeply care about your husband’s well-being and your marriage. Losing a job can significantly affect one’s identity and mental health, and it’s understandable that the current situation is causing friction between you. Remember, in Colossians 3:13, we are encouraged to 'forgive one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.' While it’s not easy in moments of frustration, forgiveness and understanding will be key to healing. The Bible also tells us in Psalms 34:18 that 'the Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.' God is with you both through these trials. I will be praying for your husband to find peace and for you to be a source of love and support. May your relationship be restored as you lean on each other and on God during this time.
