A Daughter’s Yearning for Her Brother’s Return to Faith
My brother, Daniel, has been caught in a cycle of disbelief and misunderstanding. It started in his teenage years, and now, as a young adult, he’s completely turned away from our family and our faith. It feels like a deep chasm has formed between us, one that I can’t seem to bridge. I miss our conversations about faith, and I can't help but feel like I failed him somehow. I often find myself praying for him, but I feel lost in how to approach him without pushing him further away. I ask for prayer that he finds his way back to Christ and that our relationship can be restored.
Pastor's Response

Senior Pastor, Grace Community Church
Dear Emma, your heart for Daniel is evident, and I admire your commitment to him in prayer. It’s not uncommon for siblings to drift apart, especially over matters of faith, which can be sensitive. Remember, the journey of faith is often personal and fraught with challenges. In Genesis 2:24, we are reminded that family bonds are significant, and it’s crucial to cherish them. You must be patient and persistent in love. Romans 12:10 encourages us to show 'kindly affection'—this is vital, especially in times of distance. Instead of pushing for a discussion about faith, perhaps invite him to share his thoughts and feelings. Being a listening ear can sometimes open the door for deeper conversations later. I will pray with you for his heart to be softened and for your relationship to be renewed. Keep believing that God is at work even when it feels quiet.
