A Father's Dread Over School Lockdowns

As a father, I find myself increasingly fearful with the recent incidents of school lockdowns and threats. Every time I hear about a lockdown, my heart races, and my mind spirals into frightening thoughts about my child’s safety. My daughter is starting school this year, and I’m filled with dread at the thought of sending her into an environment where danger could lurk. I struggle with feelings of helplessness and worry that I may not be able to protect her from the world’s evils. I pray for peace in my heart and the ability to trust that God’s watchful eye is over her, even when I am not. Please pray with me for comfort in this turbulent time.

Michael, your anxiety is completely understandable as a father wanting to protect your daughter. The world can indeed seem daunting, but remember that God is with us in our fears. 'Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee' (Isaiah 26:3). Trust that God's presence is with your child, even when you can't be there to protect her. The Lord has not abandoned us; He cares deeply for our vulnerabilities. Romans 8:15 tells us that we have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; instead, we have the spirit of adoption, allowing us to cry out to Him as our Father. It’s crucial to bring your anxieties to Him. In Philippians 4:6, we are encouraged to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. Let us pray together: Lord, embrace Michael and his daughter with your protection, reminding them that they are safe in your hands. Amen.
