A Midlife Professional's Search for Spiritual Meaning
At 45, I find myself stuck in my career and feeling spiritually unsatisfied. For years, I’ve been climbing the corporate ladder, but it has left me feeling empty inside. I’ve tried to incorporate prayer and worship into my life, but there are days when I feel like I’m just going through the motions. My heart longs for something deeper, a connection to God that I once had when I was younger. I often ask myself, 'Is this all there is?' I’m praying for direction and clarity about my spiritual life and my purpose in this world. Please pray that I can find that connection and discover my true calling.

Missions Pastor, First Baptist Church
Dear Jared, thank you for being so candid about your journey. It’s important to recognize that many people reach a point in life where they question their purpose, especially amidst career pressures. God has a unique plan for you, as Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us: 'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.' In your pursuit of spiritual meaning, remember that faith is often about living in the present moment and trusting God with your future. As 2 Corinthians 5:7 tells us, 'For we walk by faith, not by sight.' It can be easy to focus on our earthly achievements, but true fulfillment often comes from serving others and pursuing a relationship with Christ. I encourage you to seek opportunities to connect with others in your community or church; sometimes, the act of serving can restore your spirit. I will pray that God opens your heart to new avenues of His purpose for your life. May you find peace and direction as you seek Him wholeheartedly.
