A Mother's Fear for Her Child's Safety at School
As a mother, I am deeply troubled by the reports of violence in schools. My heart aches as I send my child off each day, wondering if they will be safe. The world feels so uncertain and dangerous, and I can't shake the fear that grips me. I often find myself imagining the worst scenarios, which only adds to my anxiety. My child is so innocent, and I wish I could protect them from every harm. I've tried talking to them about safety, but it's hard to convey my fears without burdening them. I ask for prayer for peace in my heart and strength to trust that God watches over my child while they are away. I long for reassurance and comfort in these overwhelming feelings.

Dear Jessica, I can only imagine the weight of anxiety you feel as you think about your child's safety. It's completely understandable to be concerned for those we love. The Scriptures remind us that 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble' (Psalms 46:1). Your fears are valid, but I encourage you to lean on the Lord during these moments of anxiety. Remember, He does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). As you send your child off, pray for their safety and for God’s protection over their school. Philippians 4:6 calls us not to be anxious about anything but to present our requests to God in prayer with thanksgiving. Take time to pray for peace, not just for yourself but for your child as well. May the Lord fill you with His perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Let’s pray: Dear Lord, please grant Jessica and her family your peace and assurance as she navigates these fears. Amen.
