A Mother’s Heart for Her Soldier Son
My son has just returned from his tour, and I can see he’s struggling to adjust. He often wakes up screaming from nightmares, and his mood swings are hard for our family to navigate. It pains me to see him like this, and I feel helpless as a mother. There are moments when he speaks about his experiences that make me wish I could erase the pain he carries. Family dinners used to be filled with joy, but now there’s a cloud that hangs over us. I am seeking prayer for strength and guidance to support my son and to help him find peace. I want to see my joyful boy again.

Dear Linda, thank you for sharing your heart about your son’s struggles. As a mother, your desire to see your child restored is powerful and deeply moving. I want to remind you that God sees the weight of your worry and the love you have for your son. In 1 Peter 4:8, we are reminded to have fervent love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins. You can be that love for your son. Encourage him to talk and share his feelings, and remind him that he is not alone. The journey to healing from PTSD is often long, but God is with him every step of the way. Psalm 127:3 reminds us that 'children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.' Your son is a precious gift, and in prayer, we can intercede for his healing. I will pray that God grants both you and your son the comfort and strength you need during this challenging time.
