A Mother's Heartache After Losing Her Child
I am a single mother, and I lost my 15-year-old daughter, Mia, to suicide just two weeks ago. I feel completely shattered and lost; my heart aches with a pain I never knew existed. Mia was my light and my reason for everything. I still can't process how this happened, and I feel guilty for not seeing the signs. I ask for prayer for strength as I navigate this unthinkable loss and for healing as I attempt to find a way forward in this broken world. It feels so dark right now, and I long for any sign of hope.

Dear Laura, I cannot imagine the depth of your sorrow after losing your beautiful daughter Mia. As a mother, your bond with her was like no other, and the pain you feel is a reflection of that love. Remember, 'The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit' (Psalms 34:18). It’s completely natural to wrestle with guilt and questions, but know that God is walking with you through this valley of despair. Grief is not a linear process, and it may take time to find comfort and understanding. 'For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future' (Jeremiah 29:11) – even when it feels impossible to see the light. Allow yourself the grace to grieve and heal, and seek support from your community and faith. I will be praying for God’s peace to envelop you and for hope to spark in your heart once more.
