A Retiree's Anxiety About Trying New Things
As I enter my retirement years, I find myself struggling with the fear of trying new activities or pursuing hobbies. I’ve dedicated so many years to my career that now, I feel lost and unsure of what to do next. I want to embrace this new chapter in life, but there’s an underlying fear that I will fail at it. Whether it's learning to paint, joining a community group, or even traveling, I hold back because of this fear. I need prayer to help overcome my anxiety and to embrace this season of life with joy and excitement. I want to trust that it's never too late to start anew.

Dear Frank, it's wonderful that you are looking to embrace this new chapter in your life! Transitioning into retirement can indeed bring a mix of excitement and anxiety. It’s important to remember that your worth is not tied to your past achievements, but rather to who you are in Christ. As stated in Philippians 4:6, we are called to be anxious for nothing, and instead, to bring our concerns before God. He has a beautiful plan for each season of our lives, just as He assures us in Jeremiah 29:11. Embrace this time to explore and try new things without the fear of failure, knowing that God is with you through it all. Let’s pray for your journey into this exciting new phase, asking for confidence and the joy of discovery.
